The Board of Directors of the Frank H. Hiscock Legal Aid Society is very pleased to announce that Linda Gehron, Esq. has been selected as the new President/CEO of the organization.

Ms. Gehron has a B.A. (Summa Cum Laude) from Kean University and a J.D. (Cum Laude) from Syracuse University College of Law. She was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1982 and from 1982 until 2012 maintained a private practice handling a wide range of cases, including Family Court and criminal defense. Ms. Gehron was certified by the Appellate Division Fourth Department as a Law Guardian and Attorney for the Child and was a recipient of the Dillon Award for Law Guardian Advocacy. She was qualified by the OCBA Assigned Counsel Program to handle misdemeanors, felonies and homicides and also served as a Supervising Attorney and Lecturer in Law for the Juvenile Advocacy Clinic at the SU College of Law.

Ms. Gehron joined the Family Court Program of the Hiscock Legal Aid Society as a Senior Attorney in 2012 and has served as the Program’s Supervising Attorney since 2014. In that capacity, she has served on the Onondaga County Child Welfare Court Improvement Project and the NYS Office of Indigent Legal Services Parent Representation Standards Working Group, which established statewide parent representation standards for child welfare cases. Ms. Gehron is a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee to Ensure Quality Mandated Representation, the New York State Defenders Association and the Onondaga County Bar Association.  She has written about family law for the OCBA Bar Reporter and has given presentations on a variety of topics for national, statewide and local organizations.

Ms. Gehron will take over as President/CEO on February 1, 2017. She will succeed President/CEO Susan R. Horn, who will retire on January 31, 2017 after almost 27 years in the position.
